New York  New York it is the more populous town of the United States of America and it is found in the homonym state, that has for capital Albany.
Situated on the eastern coats of the northern America, facing the Atlantic, is located to the seals of the river Hudson (that constitutes its west boundary, separating it from a series of suburbs in the New Jersey), that is also the point where the large island of Long Island is more near the Continent, from that is separated alone from the tight East River.
This special topography did that the town became one of the most important ports of the world since the colonial period.

It is interesting to note that the 5 districts (boroughs) in which the only town is divided (Bronx) it is found on the true and actual continent, while two (Brooklyn and Queens) occupy the west end of Long Island, and the other (Manhattan and Staten Island) occupy two homonymous islands of dimensions intermediate. There exist also numerous smaller islands of dimensions, like Ellis Island, the island in which a time disembarked the full ships of immigrated came from the Europe, and where these lieutenants in quarantine for a certain period came before to be admitted the remainder of the United States, or art Liberty Island, the island where the Liberty Statue is placed.

The Ombelico of the world, the Large apple (the Big Apple), Gotham City, the town that does not sleep ever (The city that never sleeps), the capital of the world (by means of the Stock Exchange of Wall Street) how was the street road nicknamed, is certainly a between the town more mattering and one between the greater financial centers of the world.

Like cultural pole between the most known in west world is goal of a tourist flow than likely has not equal. The it been the seat of the United Nations, confer credibility to the assertion of its second inhabitants that is, to all of the effects, the capital of the world.

New York counts beyond 8 millions of inhabitants, that originally had said "Knickerbockers", distributed on an area of 786 km² divided administratively in 5 "districts" or "districts" (boroughs) of Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island, that are divided in tens of districts (neighbourhoods).

The hole urban area is extended on three states (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) and counts about 21 millions of inhabitants, the more populated to the world resulting so still today, although the competition of other large metropolis like Tokyo or Town of Mexico.

Injured to the heart from the terrorist attack of the 11 September 2001, that destroyed one of its symbols, the Towers Twins, the metropolis showed a large force of reaction: the zone hit, famous all over the world like Ground Zero will be rebuild in the turn of years.

The history of New York
New York New York was been based on in 1625 from the Dutch, with the name of Nieuw Amsterdam; the first installation is found on the south point of the island of Manhattan. In 1664 this installation was gained from the English, that changed of it the name in New York (on the coat of arms results still the name in Latin: Novum Eboracum).
New York was occupied from the English for almost all the duration of the war of independence and the town constituted the most important British point of support during the war.
At the begining of the XIX century the importance of the considerable port of New York was increased from the opening of the Channel Erie, that connected the valley of the Hudson with the Lake Erie, and put in all communication the region of the Large Lake with the Atlantic coast. Thanks to this channel, New York became the main point of landing of the goods and of the immigrant came from the Europe. A lot of the novelties arrived established in the town, and the population of New York grew dizzy.
Between 1874 and 1898 the boundaries of New York City (that until then included only Manhattan) had been considerable broadened, first with the addition of the Bronx (part in 1874 and part in 1895) and then with that of the other three districts (1898). The opening of the bridge of Brooklyn (1883) financially already had united New York City to the town of Brooklyn, that was then the third one of the United States (after the same New York and Chicago). A feeling of "autonomy" survived in the district of Brooklyn for decades: until 1920 its subway rhymed separated from the main one of Manhattan, Bronx and Queens, and still today some inhabitant defines Brooklyn "the fourth town of America" (not more the third one, since now remained also from Los Angeles).
By means of the high prices of the grounds on the island of Manhattan, between the years '10 and the years' 30 began to build buildings more highs, the so-called skyscrapers, that constitute one of the most well-known features of the town. The most well-known one of these is surely Empire State Building fill it, build in 1931, and that until 1973 was the highest one of the world, when was surpassed from the well-known Twin Towers of World Trade Center: these are tragically notes for another fundamental episode of the story of New York, the terrorist attacks of the 11 September 2001, that carried to their sudden fall.
